Lawn Mowing in Kanimbla

Whole-yard mowing for family houses, batters included, on one fixed day each fortnight.

Shared lawns are hard to find in Kanimbla, because almost every home here is a house on its own block, with its own grass at the front, the sides and the back. Ramsey Park sits on Ramsey Drive, and Council describes the land as reclaimed cane farms and hill slopes, so a good share of blocks sit on a grade, by this page's own count from state mapping. Trisim takes on lawn mowing in Kanimbla, so call 0488 622 205 or send the address through the form. Someone walks the yard before quoting, and each visit is the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway, on the same day every fortnight.

At the 2021 Census, 98.7% of Kanimbla's occupied homes were separate houses against 72.9% across the Cairns council area, and 72.1% had four or more bedrooms against 35.8%. Four in five were lived in by their owners, and only 18.4% were rented, against 35.0% for Cairns. Family households made up 83.2% of the total, against 68.5% citywide. So this page is written first for the household that owns the house and the yard around it, and wants that whole yard kept on one fixed day each fortnight. Across Cairns, Trisim also works for landlords, agents and vendors, and here they are the smaller stream: the agents and landlords behind the one home in five that is rented, and owners getting a large house ready to sell.

Why Trisim

Why lawn mowing matters in Kanimbla

Done right the first time.
Trina and Simon, Trisim Property Maintenance

The ground gives a Kanimbla mow its character. Cairns Regional Council's master plan treats Kanimbla and Brinsmead as one precinct and describes it as reclaimed cane farms and hill slopes, with soils it calls unusually rich and fertile. Fertile ground tends to push turf and weeds along quickly, and on a large yard a missed fortnight is easy to see.

Block size and fall here come from this page's own count of the Queensland Government's cadastre and contour layers, not from any published figure: many blocks are around 700 square metres, an area that includes the house, and a good share of them sit on a grade. That pairing is the practical difference. A block that falls away splits the yard into levels joined by batters and embankments, with fence lines running downhill and retaining-wall tops along the edges, strips a mower deck does not reach. Trisim works graded and terraced blocks and hand-trims batters and embankments rather than turning a sloped property away, and the line trim in every standard visit takes in the fence lines and wall edges.

Ramsey Drive is the spine of the suburb, and published descriptions place its south-western high ground on the climb toward Mooroobool Peak. Ramsey Park on Ramsey Drive is one of six parks Council lists in Kanimbla, and the state cadastre records 20 reserve-tenure parcels, one of them named Drainage Reserve, so some back fences face public land rather than a neighbour.

Set the housing figures beside that ground and the job is plain. With almost every home a separate house and most of them four-bedroom family homes, each booking is one household's entire yard: no body corporate sharing the grass, no common strip cut on someone else's timetable. Most of those homes are owner-occupied, so the person booking is usually the person who will see the result every day.

That is why the offer here is a standing arrangement rather than a rescue. The visit has four named parts: the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway. It falls on the same day every fortnight, and Trisim's rule is to do only work that was quoted. The lawn is mulch mowed, clippings cut fine and returned to the root zone, so there are no clippings to remove. First, though, somebody comes to look at the yard, the grade and the access, because two blocks of the same area can be very different jobs once the fall is counted.

What is involved

How we look after your place

01

A whole yard at every address, with no shared strip

At the 2021 Census, 98.7% of Kanimbla's occupied homes were separate houses, 1.4% were semi-detached or townhouses and none was a flat or apartment. 72.1% had four or more bedrooms, and the average was 3.9 bedrooms per home against 3.1 for Cairns.

With no body corporate and no common ground, every metre of grass inside the fence belongs to one household. On a big family house that can mean lawn at the front, down both sides and across the back, plus the paths and driveway the mower throws clippings onto.

Trisim books the yard as one job on a fixed day each fortnight, and the visit is the same four parts every time: the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway. Side passages and gates are seen when somebody walks the yard to quote.

Batters and falls between the levels of the yard

Council's master plan describes the Kanimbla and Brinsmead precinct as reclaimed cane farms and hill slopes. Counting the Queensland cadastre against the state contour layer for this page, rather than quoting a published figure, a good share of Kanimbla blocks sit on a grade. Geoscience Australia's 1999 Cairns risk study noted that drainage and retaining walls are commonly used in developing the city's hill slopes.

Where the ground falls, a yard breaks into levels joined by batters and embankments, with retaining-wall tops and downhill fence lines along the edges. Those strips are the slow part of any mow, and they are the first to look neglected when they are skipped.

Trisim works graded and terraced blocks and hand-trims batters and embankments rather than declining a sloped property. Line trimming along fences and wall edges is part of every standard visit. The grade, the batters and the way in are seen on site before any figure is given.

Rich former cane soil that outgrows a busy week

Council's master plan records that soils in the precinct are 'unusually rich and fertile'. The weather adds to it: at the Bureau of Meteorology's Cairns Aero station, an airport reading rather than a Kanimbla one, January, February and March each average more than 400mm of rain, while August and September fall to about 30mm.

Fertile soil and a wet first quarter let turf and weeds get ahead fast, and a family with a full week seldom has a spare afternoon to catch up on a yard of this size. A lawn on a grade that has run long is harder going on the next cut than one kept short.

The visits are booked on the same day every fortnight, so they are already in the calendar when growth picks up. Clippings are mulch mowed and returned to the root zone as a natural fertiliser, with nothing to remove, and the moisture they help the soil hold counts again in the dry months.

Wet-season rain days against a fixed mowing day

At the Bureau of Meteorology's Cairns Aero station, an airport reading rather than a Kanimbla one, January, February and March each average about 16 days with 1mm of rain or more, against 4.9 such days in each of August and September.

In the wettest quarter, rain falls on about half the days of each month, so a fixed fortnightly day will sometimes land on one. The Queensland Office of Fair Trading notes that a paid service must be supplied within a reasonable time, and that if it was raining during that time, a delay might be reasonable.

Trisim's promise is the same day every fortnight, with the work guaranteed and only quoted work done, and each visit that goes ahead is the full cut, edges, line trim and blow down. This page sets no rain rule of its own, so ask how a heavy rain day is handled when somebody walks the yard to quote.

In detail

The work that keeps a Cairns property looking its best

01

Fortnightly Lawn Mowing

Mowing on a standing fortnightly round: the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway.

With 72.1% of Kanimbla homes holding four or more bedrooms, a visit usually means front, sides and back done as one job, the line trim following the fence lines down a graded block. Mulch mowing is standard, and only quoted work is done.

02

Green Waste Removal

Prunings, clearing waste and cuttings that have to leave the property.

Cairns sits inside an electric ant biosecurity zone, where garden waste, turf, soil and garden mulch all count as carriers whose movement is controlled, a rule that applies to anyone clearing a yard. The eight-hour grass clearing Trisim has posted was a business-wide job, not one in Kanimbla.

Garden Mulching

Garden beds mulched from four supply options.

Four mulches are supplied: Aussie Bush from recycled green waste, termite-repelling Premium Red Cypress, seasonal Tea Tree, and slow-breakdown, weed-blocking Caribbean Pine Bark. Ask at the on-site quote which one suits your garden beds.

High Pressure Cleaning

Driveways, paths and concrete surfaces cleaned back.

Pressure washing driveways and concrete is work Trisim posts from across Cairns, none of it from Kanimbla. It sits beside the fortnightly blow down of paths and driveway, which clears loose clippings off the concrete but is not a wash.

Local, insured, reliable

A Cairns team you can trust with the keys

A crew mowing a whole family yard goes through the side gate and right around the house, so here is what a Kanimbla household can check before saying yes. Trisim is run by Trina and Simon, a veteran-owned family business with a team of five to ten. The Australian Business Register lists ABN 24 306 689 336 as active from 1 July 2021, with its main business location in QLD 4870. Trisim states that it holds public liability insurance and that its team is police-checked. Its own promise is to turn up on the same day every fortnight, guarantee the work and do only quoted work. Beneath that sits the Queensland Office of Fair Trading's summary of the consumer guarantees: a paid service must be delivered with due care and skill, be fit for its purpose and arrive within a reasonable time, and a rain delay might be reasonable. The job photos Trisim posts, such as an eight-hour grass clearing and pressure-washed driveways, come from across Cairns, and none is a Kanimbla job. No customer reviews appear here because none could be collected.

Common questions from Cairns residents

Yes. Trisim takes on lawn mowing in Kanimbla, so call 0488 622 205 with your street or send the address through the form. Somebody comes out to walk the yard, the grade and the access before a figure is given, and the quote is free. Nothing on this page promises a travel time, a choice of weekday or a place ahead of anyone else; the fixed fortnightly day is set once the quote is agreed.

Council's own off-leash register places part of the Robson St Drainage Reserve behind the dwellings on Hymes Street, Yellowfin Close, Sweetlip Close and Tanganelli Close, west of the cane rail line. The mow stops at your boundary: Trisim quotes up to the fence and reports overgrown reserve land to Council rather than cutting it, since clearing Council land needs a permit under Local Law No. 11. On your side, the line trim runs along that fence every visit.

Yes. A standard visit is the cut, the edges, the line trim and then a blow down of the paths and driveway, so clippings thrown onto the concrete do not stay there. Because a good share of Kanimbla blocks sit on a grade, by this page's own count from state mapping, the driveway and the way in are looked at when somebody walks the yard to quote, before any work is booked.

Yes. Trisim takes on lawns in Kanimbla; call 0488 622 205 or send the address through the form. Across Cairns, vendors preparing a property for sale are among the people Trisim works for, alongside owners, landlords and agents. Somebody walks the yard first, then the visit of cut, edges, line trim and blow down runs on a fixed day each fortnight. Nothing here is a promise about the sale, its timing or its price. For garden beds, mulch and presentation, see the pre-sale garden presentation service.
